FAQ: What Should I Do With My Pets on Treatment Day?

Your pets are part of the family, and we keep that in mind with every visit. Whether you're scheduled for general pest control, rodent exclusion, or something more targeted, there are a few simple steps to make sure your animals stay safe and comfortable.

Do: Let your technician know about your pets ahead of time

We always ask during scheduling, but it helps to be specific. Let us know:

  • What kind of pets you have (dog, cat, bird, reptile, etc.)

  • Where they’ll be during service

  • If there are any outdoor spaces or enclosures we should avoid

This helps us tailor your service and avoid unnecessary risks.

Don’t: Let pets roam during service

Even when we’re only treating the exterior, it’s important to secure pets away from the service areas. That means:

  • Crating or isolating dogs and cats indoors

  • Moving bedding, water bowls, toys, and litter boxes

  • Keeping outdoor pets inside until treatment areas are dry

The products we use are low-risk when dry, but it’s best to limit direct contact during and immediately after application.

Do: Wait for everything to fully dry

Dry time is one of the most important safety steps. We’ll always tell you how long to wait, but in most cases:

  • Interior treatments dry in 1 to 2 hours

  • Exterior treatments are safe once visibly dry

After that, your pets can return to treated spaces without concern.

Don’t: Assume “pet-safe” means skip the prep

We use products labeled for residential and pet-safe use when applied correctly. But a few things still need attention:

  • Cover or unplug aquariums with air pumps

  • Remove and rinse any toys or bowls near treated areas

  • Avoid using treated surfaces as feeding or resting spots until dry

These extra steps reduce exposure and protect your animals from unnecessary irritation.

Do: Ask questions if you’re unsure

We’re happy to walk you through what was applied, where it was used, and when it’s safe for your pets to return to normal routines. If you have a senior pet, animals with health concerns, or unique enclosures, just let us know. We’ll work with you to adjust as needed.

The Bottom Line

You shouldn’t have to choose between effective pest control and safe conditions for your pets. With a little prep and a few precautions after treatment, your animals can stay safe, calm, and comfortable while your home stays protected.
