What Happens During a Free Rodent Inspection?

A Friday FAQ from Paragon Pest Control

If you’ve heard scratching in the attic or spotted something suspicious in the garage, your first instinct might be to panic. But don’t worry. A rodent inspection is the first step toward peace of mind, and we make it as stress-free as possible.

Here’s what actually happens when we perform a rodent inspection, from start to finish.

Step 1: We Listen

Before we grab a ladder or peek under the house, we ask what you’ve seen, heard, or smelled. Even if you’re not sure it’s a rodent, your input helps us zero in on likely hotspots. Sometimes, the signs are subtle, but to us, those clues are gold.

Step 2: Exterior Check

We start outside. Rodents don’t magically appear inside your home. They’re getting in somewhere. We walk the perimeter looking for:

  • Gaps around siding or roof joints

  • Chewed-up corners of garage doors

  • Vents, pipe entries, and crawlspace access

  • Tracks, droppings, and grease marks

Rodents only need a hole the size of a dime to squeeze in. If it’s there, we’ll find it.

Step 3: Interior and Attic Inspection

If you’re home and comfortable with it, we check inside next, especially garages, pantries, closets, and anywhere you’ve noticed activity. We’ll also inspect the attic if we suspect nesting or tunneling.

What we look for:

  • Droppings or urine trails

  • Insulation trails or nests

  • Gnaw marks on beams, wires, or boxes

  • Entry light visible from outside, which can be a major red flag

You’d be surprised how often rodents stay hidden until we shine a light into the right corner.

Step 4: Document and Report

Our inspectors take photos of what they find, both problems and proof. That way, you’re not just taking our word for it. We’ll explain where rodents are likely entering, what they’re doing inside, and what damage they’ve caused so far.

You’ll also get a clear explanation of next steps, whether that’s exclusion work, trapping, cleanup, or all of the above.

Step 5: No Pressure, Just Solutions

Our inspections are always free and come with real solutions. We’ll give you a breakdown of recommended work, answer your questions, and let you decide when and how to move forward. No pressure, no scare tactics, just honest help.

Why It Matters

A rodent problem rarely goes away on its own. Even if you haven’t seen a mouse, the signs might already be there. A quick inspection gives you clarity, protects your home, and gives you options before it gets worse.

And if we don’t find anything, even better. That’s still peace of mind.
