Beetle Control

Beetle Control in Grand Prairie, TX

Entomology-Informed Beetle Treatment for Homes & Businesses

Beetles are one of the most diverse pest groups property owners encounter in North Texas, and that variety is exactly what makes them difficult to address without correct identification. Carpet beetles destroy natural fibers. Powderpost beetles compromise wood from the inside out. Pantry beetles contaminate food storage. Each species calls for a different response, and treating the wrong one wastes time while the damage continues. At Paragon Pest Control, we apply an entomology-informed approach to every inspection, identifying the specific species and conditions driving the infestation before any treatment begins.

We operate out of Grand Prairie and serve the wider DFW Metroplex, working with both residential and commercial properties. Our inspections are free, conducted in person, and explained in plain terms so you understand exactly what we found and what we recommend. Evening and weekend appointments are available when standard scheduling doesn’t fit your routine.

Beetles Common to Grand Prairie & North Texas

The DFW region’s climate supports a wide range of beetle species, each with distinct behavior and damage patterns. Knowing which one you’re dealing with determines how treatment is structured.

  • Carpet beetles: Small, oval beetles whose larvae feed on wool, silk, leather, and feathers. They’re typically found in closets, attics, and under furniture. The adults are largely harmless indoors; it’s the larvae that cause damage.
  • Powderpost beetles: Larvae tunnel into hardwood flooring, furniture, and structural beams, leaving fine powdery dust and small exit holes. Damage can progress for months before it becomes visible.
  • June beetles: Large reddish-brown beetles drawn to outdoor lights at night. Their larvae, called white grubs, live in the soil and feed on grass roots, causing irregular brown patches in lawns.
  • Pantry and flour beetles: Infest stored dry goods including flour, cereal, rice, and spices. They often enter homes inside already-infested food packages brought from the store.
  • Wood-boring beetles: Tunnel through structural and decorative wood in ways that resemble termite activity. Signs include small exit holes, surface blistering, or discoloration in wood.
  • Ground beetles: Common outdoor beetles that enter through cracks and gaps during summer. Generally harmless indoors, but they can show up in large numbers.
  • Blister beetles: Found in gardens and vegetation, these beetles secrete cantharidin, a substance that can cause skin blistering on contact.

Signs of a Beetle Infestation

Beetles often establish in hidden areas, so visible damage may be the first sign something is wrong. These are the indicators worth paying attention to:

  • Holes in clothing, upholstery, or stored fabrics, often mistaken for moth damage, point to carpet beetle larvae
  • Fine powdery dust or small round exit holes in wood furniture, flooring, or beams suggest powderpost or wood-boring beetle activity
  • Damaged or contaminated dry goods with small brown beetles or larvae present indicate a pantry beetle problem
  • Irregular brown patches in turf that lifts easily from the soil point to white grub feeding beneath the surface
  • Large numbers of beetles gathering near exterior lights or entering through windows in the evening suggest June beetle or ground beetle pressure
  • Skin rashes or blistering after contact with garden vegetation may indicate blister beetles in the area

How Our Beetle Control Process Works

Every service starts with a free walkthrough of the property. We identify entry points, nesting areas, and the conditions attracting beetles, then explain what we found before recommending anything. There’s no pressure and no guesswork about what the next steps involve.

Treatment is built around what we observe during the inspection. The approach for carpet beetles differs from what’s needed for powderpost beetles or pantry beetles, so we don’t apply a fixed plan to every property. Interior and exterior applications, crack-and-crevice treatment, and species-specific solutions are selected based on the infestation at hand. We explain what products are used and how they’re applied before work begins.

Follow-up is part of the service model. We check that pest activity has been reduced and make adjustments if needed. Our team refines methods through ongoing training and field experience across North Texas, so treatments reflect current pest behavior and seasonal conditions rather than a static protocol.
