Friday FAQ: What Should I Do With My Pets on Treatment Day?
One of the most common questions we hear before a service appointment has nothing to do with bugs. It's about pets.
Whether you have a curious cat, an energetic puppy, or even a guinea pig who likes to supervise everything happening in the house, it's completely normal to wonder what they'll need on treatment day. The good news? Preparing your pets is usually simple.
Before Your Appointment
If your pet tends to greet visitors at the door or gets nervous around new people, it's a good idea to have them safely secured before your technician arrives. For most homes, that simply means keeping dogs and cats in a separate room while the treatment is being completed. This helps prevent accidental escapes and allows your technician to work safely and efficiently. If your pet spends time outdoors, you may also want to bring them inside before the appointment begins.
During the Treatment
Every service is a little different, so your technician will let you know if there are any specific instructions based on the treatment being performed. In general, pets should be kept away from the areas being treated until any products have had time to dry. Once the treatment has dried, it's generally safe for both people and pets to return to those areas. If you have aquariums, reptiles, birds, or other specialty pets, let us know before your appointment. We'll be happy to discuss any additional precautions that may be needed.
After the Service
Once your technician lets you know it's okay to return to the treated areas, your pets can usually go right back to their normal routine. If outdoor areas were treated, it's always a good idea to wait until the products have completely dried before letting pets back into the yard. Your technician will answer any questions you have before leaving, so you'll know exactly when it's safe to resume business as usual.
Communication Is Key
Every home is different, and so is every family. If your pet has special medical needs, spends most of the day outdoors, or you're simply unsure about anything before your appointment, don't hesitate to ask. We're always happy to explain the treatment process and make sure you feel comfortable before we get started.
After all, we know your pets aren't "just pets". They're family, and we want them to be just as comfortable as you are on treatment day.
